The Fruit of Recursion

The Fruit of Recursion (Rus. Плод Рекурсии) is the Soviet designation for the object the Department calls The Apple.

The term is not a Soviet coinage. It appears in hermetic texts from the second-century Gnostics through to the sealed archives of the Reich, and GRU Division P adopted it rather than inventing one.

The Soviet position

Division P holds that observed anomalies are not faults in reality but evidence of reality being rewritten, and that the Fruit of Recursion is the instrument required to complete the edit. Not a technical artefact. A conceptual entity.

Phaeton assessed by 1965 that the American Project FURNACE was conducting an independent search for the same object.

The disagreement

The Department calls it the Apple and treats it as a containment problem. Division P calls it the Fruit of Recursion and treats it as a tool.

Neither position has ever been shown to be wrong.
