'''Vostok Station''' is a Russian research station in central [[wikipedia:Antarctica|Antarctica]], sited at the Southern Pole of Cold on approximately 3,700 metres of ice above subglacial Lake Vostok.

[[Site AZAZEL]] stands roughly 20 kilometres to its south.

Vostok has held continuous Soviet and Russian presence since 1957, the year [[Project FURNACE]] was launched. Departmental assessment does not accept the station's stated glaciological remit as a complete account of its activity, and [[GRU Division P]] is assessed to maintain personnel there under scientific cover.

The two installations have coexisted for four decades without either government acknowledging the other's purpose.
